Paypal, SELLERS BEWARE.
All a person needs to make you suffer is a stolen credit card.
"This could never happen to me."
"Besides there cant be that many."
"I wouldn't really be losing anything anyway."
All of you who think like that REALLY need to see this.
Here's a basic example I made up
You sell an xbox 360 to a buyer with no feed back and he's using a stolen credit card. That was your first mistake. Turns out this guy isn't paypal verified either. second mistake. Well you get payment so you send the xbox. 3 days later paypal finds out this guy is using a stolen credit card. The money from your account is taken away and put back on the card. So you just gave a criminal a free xbox. Congratulations...
What to do next time.
-
Go to the post office and ask them to send the package back.
-
Hold the xbox 3 days after payment is received.
-
Set Buyer restrictions. I recommend they be paypal verified, have bought 2-5 more expensive items, and have been a member for 30 days or more.
The same criminal may strike again.
After the account is banned, the buyer could just make another. All he needs is one of his friend's addresses, a new email, and another stolen credit card.
- I'm sure this guy as several friends who do the same thing as him.
- Over 1,000,000 websites offer a free email address.
- This guys gotten 1 stolen card, I'm sure he can get more.
If you relist...
To make sure the same guy didn't just made another account, check the date the account was made, and see if the city, or state from the banned and the new account match up. If this guy buys then hold the item until eBay removes him. You will not be charged for listing fees if this occurs.
I hope that you now realize that this could easily happen to you, and please use this advice for safe selling. BE CAREFUL!
