Game Selling and Customer Service - Guide Part 3:

IF CLEANING DOES NOT WORK!

There are those situations that no matter what you do, that after removing the sticky old labels the Case still looks bad. If you have any ideas on this subject please let me know. You have two choices left to you…(1) Sell the item as it is … looking bad or (2) Replacing the case completely. Choice #2 you might be thinking … this is going to cost me! Well yes, but not possible not what you think it might. Depends on where you live, and what types of stores you have in your area.

Getting back to the Customer Service aspect of this topic, I as a seller want to only sell the best product I can. If this means going out of my way a little to clean the case or even buy a NEW or USED case to replace it I DO! It does not have to cost a fortune to do this. For as little as .05 cents to .35 cents, is what it cost me to change out to a USED or NEW case. Here is what I do.

I have several thrift shops that gets DVD’s, CD’ and Video Games. Some of the time they even come empty. I made arrangement to buy the empty cases for .05 & .10 cents each! They make money because they don’t have to throw them away any longer and I get some replacement cases. This is great as far as I am concerned. The customers get a better looking product and I don’t have to spend a fortune on New cases.

OK, you say you don’t have a thrift shop or they wont make a deal with you, you might just have to just buy some new cases … here’s that spending money thing just to sell something line. Well there is always the more expensive way of doing it, by going to a computer store, or a Big Department Store like Wal-Mart lets say. Better yet go to a dollar store near you, if you have one and get some there. Maybe yours don’t carry them but luckily mine does on a regular basis. I can get 3 double DVD/CD cases for a $1.00 or 5 single DVD/CD cases for $1.00 This makes replacing those cracked ones or ones that just don’t clean up worth replacing. Remember, Customer Service … If you want loyal and repeat business, it is worth it!

A side note - Have you ever had a torn or damaged product insert (Cover Picture)? Well if so, there are ways to improve on them. Some of the things I have done to make the item I am selling look much better are:

1) Taping the back of insert, copying and reprinting a new insert - can do B\W, but Color is best.

2) If Insert is so bad (I’ve received a few) I had to photocopy and print out the Disk itself and use that as an insert. Better than the one I replaced and better than nothing!

Well that about wraps up this GUIDE, Thanks for reading this Guide and please read my last Guide in this series: #4 GENERAL CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE OF GAME CARTRIDGES AND DISKS.
