This guide is for the professional La Crosse Wireless weather station with touch screen, mine has a cherry finish. (CH model)
I give this weather station a 9.99 out of 10, it is great, I am very satisfied with it. I have two minor concerns I will address below.
I purchased a refurbished model here on ebay, which had to be returned to the factory for a defective Hygro sensor, it was returned quickly and everything has worked fine for almost a year. (purchased winter of 2006)
Setup was EXTREMELY easy, it took me less than 30 minutes was everything was removed from the box.
I will talk about the model itself. The weather station itself, the computer, the brain, etc... is very sturdy, it has a very good strong feel too it. With the wood inlays, it looks great too! The screen or monitor itself it nice and bright, you can adjust the contrast and brightness too for better visibility at night or during bright days. The background light turns on when the screen is touched. (touch screen model) It is bright at night to see the characters on the screen clearly.
The station "talks" to the three individual sensors, the wind sensor, rain sensor and the temperature/hygro sensor. This Hygro sensor is actually the wireless transmitter. Both the rain and wind sensors plug into the Hygro sensor which transmits to the base station up to 330feet with two C batteries. (I have had problems when the base is about 100 feet away, probably depends on your home. (my walls are 12" thick)
<B>I will update this guide soon.
