Helen MacInnes was born in 1907 in Glasgow, Scotland, married GilbertHighet in 1932 and moved to New York in 1937.  She is best know for her suspense and espionage novels, with romantic plots and thriller plots tied together.  Several of her books have been made into movies.  She began to write in 1939.  Both she and her husband became naturalized citizens of the United States in 1951.  Her last book was published in 1984.  She died in 1985.
