Oswaldo Sanchez, affectionately known by fans of this home club, Chivas de Guadalajara, as San Oswaldo has been a permanent fixture on the Mexican National Soccer team since World Cup 1998. Sanchez has an uncanny ability to recognize the bend of a ball almost instantly after the ball is kicked. During the 2003 Gold Cup he stunned onlookers by holding every team scoreless throughout the tournament. As Mexico gears up to face the rest of the world in World Cup 2006 fans of the team will hope that Sanchez can perform a similar feat on the international stage.
