For years I struggled with large amounts of dust in my home. I have, over my 30 years of marriage, had many different brands of vaccums. Some of them were expensive and some not as much. In the last 2 years I have been searching for a new vaccum to replace my slowly deterierating one. I narrowed my choices down to two, Dyson and Oreck. I thought I was set on Dyson until I made a trip to my local Sears store. The man that was in the appliance department claimed he had been selling appliances for 15 years and knew everything. Problem was he could not tell me how to empty the Dyson canister. When I finally told him I needed to know how it works. He flipped something and all the dirt fell out onto the floor. I realize it wasn't Dyson's fault that the Sears guy was a jerk, however I decided I did not want another bagless vaccum. My last 3 vaccum's had been bagless and I never realized how much dirt goes into the air when they are emptied. The whole time I was sure I was going to end up with a Dyson I would see David Oreck advertising his vaccum and air cleaners on television. I decided I needed the air cleaners first. How wonderful they are. I can not tell you enough good things about them. They are made very well, have 3 speeds and truly clean the air. However they needed the help of a good vaccum and I ordered Oreck's vaccum, first because of the 30 day trial with free shipping if I wished to return it and secondly because it filters the air. It has filters on the machine and built into the bags. Wow! Does it clean. It has made my old carpets look darn near as good as they did 20 years ago. It picks up the nap like you would not believe. It is great for those of us with back problems because it is somewhat self prepelled. You are able to follow along with it, not push it. I love it. If you are looking for a new vac, that really sucks up the dust, do yourself a favor and take David Oreck up on his free 30 day trial I think you will be amazed. I bought the XL 21   X-tended Life. It comes with 21 free annual tune ups. This is one great product. P.S. I forgot to mention that this machine goes from carpet to bare floor without any ajusting. When it hits the bare floor it actually picks the dirt up, it does not sending it flying in another direction.
