Make Money Using – Craigslist.org

Have you ever heard of Craigslist.org? It’s a great big list of everything from personal ads to the sale of cars.  Just in case you’ve never heard of it, we’re going to teach you exactly how to navigate the site, pick the best deals, and, of course, make a profit!  Ready, set, let’s make money!

STEP #1:
Type Craigslist.org into your favorite search engine or just type it directly into the address line at the top of the internet page.  Now, choose the city, state, and country where you would like to search.  We recommend you pick the city and/or state nearest to you – it saves money on shipping.  Another added advantage to picking the area you live in, you may actually be able to drive over and pick up the item you bought and meet the seller!  This is an excellent way to meet people who may have many more items they’re trying to get rid of that you could turn into profit!

STEP #2:
Once you’ve decided the area you want to search in, it’s time to enter the exciting “for sale” category on Craigslist.org.  In the “for sale” section, you’ll notice that this section is broken down into smaller categories, such as books, electronics, and computers.  This is really helpful!
Now it’s time to decide what kind of goods you want to search for.  If you can’t make up your mind, just click on your city and you’ll be led to a page of items from all sorts of categories – this is also a great place to start if you’re unsure of what you’re looking for!  The best thing to do is just start scanning pages – look for deals that jump out at you!
Here is a list of sections that we have found to be very profitable: electronics (think gently used iPods and Bose speakers), computers (gently used laptops can make a killing when you resell them), collectibles (think dolls, trains, and stamps), and CDs/DVD/VHS.

STEP #3:
Once you’ve spotted a deal, it’s time to take a closer look!  Click on the listing and you’ll be led to a page which gives you much more detailed information regarding the item.  You may even find that this portion of Craigslist.org is a little like eBay.  There’s a buyer (you), and a seller - only on Craigslist.org, there are NO FEES!  That’s right, every transaction is absolutely free!
When you get into the listing, here are a few things to look for:
1.    Is the condition of the item mentioned?  You want to make sure that the condition is good so look for phrases like “gently used”, “almost new”, “only used once”, “excellent condition”, and “like new”.
2.   Is the item described in more detail?  Is the amount of detail sufficient for you to determine whether or not this item is a good deal?  For things like cell phones and other electronics, make sure the exact model number is listed.  For any type of collectible, make sure the year the item was made and/or sold is listed and ask if the item has its original packaging. For any type of clothing or accessory, make sure the item’s name brand is listed and how often the garment was worn.
3.   Is the seller’s contact information listed?  If so, take advantage of this feature and contact them!  Ask them all the questions you need answered to know that you are getting an amazing deal!
4.   Lastly, if it looks like a great deal – see if this seller is offering any other goods on the site.  The easiest way to do this is to respond to the listing and ask the seller personally if they have any more goods listed on Craigslist.org

STEP #4:
It’s time to find out just how great of a deal we found.  How do we do that?  This should be as easy as 1, 2, 3 for you now – can you guess what it is?  An eBay completed listings search!  Doing a search for the exact items listed is the surest bet that you’re getting a good deal!  Remember, if you’re a little rusty – we tell you exactly how to do a completed listings search in Section 1 (Making Money Using bluefly.com - detailed in our book for sale).
Let’s see just how much profit we stand to make if we purchase this lot of six DVD sets.  It’s amazing, but some of these DVD sets are selling for almost as much as the asking price for all six!  That means we’re going to make a serious profit.

STEP #5:
Now that we’ve seen just how much profit we can make if we purchase these DVD sets, you better believe it’s time to contact the seller!  Click the “respond” link in the ad and get busy responding.  It’s best to be polite and brief; a short note saying you’d like to purchase the goods as soon as possible usually works.
Unlike eBay, there is no bidding, no auction ending time, and no specialized payment system.  With Craigslist.org, the seller will contact you and ask you to send payment by check, money order, or even Paypal.
More than likely, the seller will contact you, a deal will be made, and you will be the proud new owner of an item that stands to make you a fabulous profit!

**Hint, Hint: if you are at all interested in drop shipping, ask the seller if they might be willing to hold on to the item while you sell it on eBay, and then let the seller send the item directly to your buyer!  That way, everybody has saved a little money on shipping, and you’ve made an even bigger profit!
