This happens all over EBAY everyday. You look for a specific item, type in the model number, and find...nothing.

Rather type in the product's full description. Example: You are looking for a specific divers watch. Type in the search bar, the make, example Citizen, type divers, eco drive, promaster, whatever. Leave the model number if your previous seach failed. You would instead find a whole list of Citizen divers watches, and all you need to do is to seach through the list, for the specific model you need. Mostly, to your surprise, you would find it there, but with a other model number.

The reason behind this is that, lets stay with Citizen for now, is that Citizen, and many other manufacturers make items all over the world, and intend to distribute and sell them in different areas. This also affects the warranty of the product, however a good manufacturer always supply a international warranty. Back to Citizen as a example. You get one divers watch from them, called the JV0020, but is also called the JV0028, and the JV0030, and also many other model numbers for this one watch. I have only for example noted that the JV0030 uses feet instead of meters as depth measurement, but otherwise the exact same watch.

Even in cars, for example, i have noted that a Toyota BB as known in the USA, is called a Diahatsu Materia in Europe and Africa, and even called both in Japan!! But its the same car!!

On electronic equipment, its he same, but just be carefull when selecting here. Model numbers differ because of their voltages, and region codes.(Go read some more about region codes and voltages in one of my other guides)

Point: Sometimes one item may have many different names, just have a look.
