OK, there are things and times you just can't get buy on  eBay and for those things, there is Ta*get- you know the red dot place. The problem for many of us is this: every time you go, there goes a hundred bucks.  The problem may be another store for you, but the rules are the same.

Here are a few tips to combat the phenomenon:

1)Make a list and stick to it. If you have a $100 list, then chances are you haven't been in a while, so don't let it bother you.  But don't add another hundred in things you happen to spot along the way.

2) Go less often.  If you are like me, part of the problem is the amazing clearance deals.  If you don't go, you won't know and you won't buy.

3) Avoid impulse shopping, but be ready to allow for a little spontaneity. A LITTLE. Set yourself a "surprise limit" for off-budget items and stick to it.

4) Convenience costs- be sure to buy things at their ideal source.  If you are going to the grocery store anyway, don't let the red dot seduce you into buying expensive groceries.  Just as you do at the grocery store, don't walk in hungry. DVDs are cheaper at just about every other source, even with shipping added in. What else is overpriced there? If you know, you won't buy it at the wrong place.

5) Avoid getting "bargain drunk". This happens when you find one of those racks or end-caps just bursting with great deals. You buy and you buy and you buy. Pretty soon, you have saved hundreds of dollars, but you did it by  spending a hundred dollars on things you don't really need.  When you sense a frenzy coming on, ask yourself how many you really need, not how much you can save. Will one be enough? OK, maybe two.

6) Spend cash. It feels more like spending and you won't be unpleasantly reminded at the end of the month.

Hey, money you don't spend at the Targe is money you can spend online.  I hope this little guide has been of help to you and that you will check out some of the nearly 100 other guides and reviews I have written just for you.  And, don't  forget to vote.

Thanks,

 WT
