When you buy conventional make up off the shelf, you probably don't take the time to read the ingredients. Even if you did, you probably wouldn't understand most of the words. What do they mean? How do you pronounce them? Most drugstore & department store cosmetics are filled with artificial dyes, fragrances, synthetic preservatives, oils and fillers. These products can be upsetting to your skin. You may experience no reaction, delayed reactions or severe reactions. If these thoughts bother you, you maybe interested in using a more natural cosmetic alternative, why not try mineral cosmetics?

Below is some information that may help you to decide whether Waterlilly Minerals is right for you.

Bacterial Content-Mineral makeup is naturally very dry, being a loose powder. Most conventional makeup is either in liquid form or uses some kind of bonding agent to hold the compact together. You may have noted that most commercial cosmetics have an expiration date because they will build up bacteria after a short time due to their moisture content, which bacteria needs to survive. In turn, you may have to throw these cosmetics away even if you haven't fully used the whole container. Not very penny wise, is it?

Because loose mineral makeup is completely dry, created from pure minerals, it does not support bacterial growth, so it's safe for long term use.

Humidity-Conventional makeup doesn't have much staying power in the best of circumstances. As it already has some moisture content to it, conventional makeup isn't able to absorb very much excess facial oil or sweat. Add in humid conditions, and regular makeup just seems to melt away, leaving you with creases, shine and a lack of a healthy coloration.

Mineral makeup has the ability to weather humid conditions and stay put on your face for the entire day, so you always look great.

Skin Condition-Conventional cosmetics like liquid foundations can clog your pores, even some that claim to be non-comedogenic. Many also contain alpha hydroxy, and other chemical components designed to remove the outermost layer of skin in an effort to make you appear younger. Some people are very sensitive to these anti-aging products, finding their skin becomes dry and inflamed. Artificial fragrances, and preservatives can also cause allergic reactions for some people.

Mineral makeup is actually nourishing for your skin, helping to block harmful UV rays, and giving you great coverage without the inflammatory effects of conventional cosmetics. Since only pure minerals and non-organic pigments are used, you shouldn't experience pore clogging in most cases. Many users notice a dramatic improvement in the quality of their skin within a short time of using mineral makeup.

Waterlilly Mineral makeup is made only from naturally occurring minerals. Each ingredient has its own special quality & purpose in the makeup. Below is a list of each mineral and what each mineral does.

Titanium Dioxide: This is a natural anti-inflammatory agent and a natural sunscreen. It's great for people with acne, rosacea, inflammatory skin conditions and post-surgical or post-chemical peel skin. This mineral can help reduce irritation and redness. Minerals are ideal for sensitive skin (remember, no fragrances, dyes or preservatives), and are perfect for any skin type. It provides wonderful coverage for foundation, has waterproof & SPF properties while providing a matte look.

Zinc Oxide: This mineral is a naturally occurring sunscreen. When added to makeup, it provides natural resistance to harmful UV rays. It has healing properties. It has abilities to stay on even while sweating & swimming.

Kaolin Clay: The mildest of China clay, it offers great oil absorbing properties, without irritating skin. It is very good for sensitive & oily skin. It will draw the toxins from your skin. People with oily skin love this, as it will absorb 1 1/2 times its weight. Also helps makeup adhere better to skin.

Iron Oxide: A naturally occurring mineral used for color. They are natural salts that have been oxidized in a water process. A very strong pigment, so often a little of these colors goes a long way.

Ultramarines: These are natural pigments. It is required in some cool shades of makeup since there is no blue oxide

Mica: Natural "glitter". It is often used to make colors shimmer and glitter. It occurs in nature in sheets and is ground up.

Serecite: This is a colorless mica. It is a often used in setting powder (the powder you use last to give your makeup staying power). It is white in color, but goes on clear and adds to the water resistance and fade/crease- proof qualities of the makeup. Or, you can use it as a primer, underneath your makeup, to increase shine control if your skin is oily.

Kosher Grade Rice Powder-- offers slow oil-absorbing properties. It provides a soothing, protective translucent cover leaving skin with the perfect shine-free finish

Real Silk Powder contains natural real ground silk from the cocoons of silk worms. This helps in oil absorption.

These are our makeup ingredients, pure & simple. Our makeup is so gentle that you can sleep in it, & let the zinc oxide heal your skin at night.
