Having just been taken by a scam and by reading all the other Oakley guides, I thought I would share some thoughts.
Remember one of the golden rules of buying, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is - DON'T BUY THEM!
One of the best things you can do to learn about your seller is to read their feedback. There might be a couple of negative feedbacks, but take a look at what they are really saying. "Won't ship to Thailand" is that really a bad thing?
Many different guides have said that real Oakley's only come in Black boxes or with black bags, that is NOT True. I have sold over 200 pairs of real Oakley's in the past year and can tell you that the boxes come in white, black, yellow, clear, and red. The bags also come in black and white.
Make sure the picture is of the item that they have in stock. How can you tell? Does the picture show only the pair of sunglasses? If it does and the background is perfectly blended, chances are that it is an Oakley stock photo (which violates VERO) and not a picture of the actual glasses.
Does the seller offer a warranty or warranty card? Real Oakley's will have the warranty card included, but unless the seller is an authorized reseller of Oakley's, the warranty is no good. Don't trust sellers that claim to warranty them unless you ask if they are an authorized reseller.
Why should you buy Oakley's on eBay? Usually you can get a good price. You are trading price for warranty. This is one of the few places to get older styles or color combinations. Once Oakley is out of stock, there are only a few places to buy them.
