There are many different styles of OTT lights and replacement bulbs.
Some will say their lights are like the Natural sunlight indoors. They also claim its what they call Visionsaver Plus.
Makes reading easier and more comfortable, helps to reduce eye strain caused by glare and distortion. I have to agree only having tried it momentarily but I can say it made my eyes feel so much more comfortable for those few seconds I can not stop thinking about how bad I really want one. I will just have to save my pennies and get one no matter the cost. My eyes are worth everything to me.
Now on that note I picked up another pamphlet that says how to choose the right lighting for the best results. Its a "Simple" guide to selecting a lamp that supports what you do. I learned allot and I wish
to share it with you and everyone else if I may here...
What type of lamp?
Consider these important factors when selecting a lamp:
What type of lighting is needed?
* Ambient - provides a minimum amount of illumination.
* General - provides enough illumination for reading or viewing objects.
* Task - provides bright enough light for close work and viewing detail.
Is there a bulb/light source preference?
* Incandescent
* Halogen
* Fluorescent
* Full Spectrum/Natural Light
Are there any special functional requirements?
* Adjustability
* Dimming Function
* Magnifier
* Base Type - Desktop, Clamp-on, Dual Function or Organizer
* Energy Efficient
Design Elements
* Finish
* Color
* Height
* Size
* Uniqueness
Performance of any light fixture depends on the bulb/light source.
Light is measured in terms of wattage (the amount of electricity consumed by the bulb) and lumens (the amount of brightness that a bulb produces).
LIGHT SOURCE ADVANTAGES
DISADVANTAGES

Incandescent Lamps
~Ideal for ambient and general lighting purposes
~High operating costs
~Produces a yellowish light which creates warmth
~Produces a yellowish light which creates warmth
~Les energy efficiency and an inviting environment
~Short life (average 1000 hours)
~Inexpensive bulb replacement cost
~Inexpensive bulb replacement cost
~High heat output
~Readily available in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and wattages
~Easy to use, install and replace
Halogen Lamps ~Ideal for task lighting
~Costs more than incandescent lamps
~Produces whiter light than incandescent
~Readily available in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and wattages
~Easy to use, install and replace
Halogen Lamps ~Ideal for task lighting
~Costs more than incandescent lamps
~Produces whiter light than incandescent
~Higher bulb replacement cost
~Greater efficiency (uses 50% less energy than a separate incandescent bulb)
~Greater efficiency (uses 50% less energy than a separate incandescent bulb)
~Low voltage halogen lamps require a transformer
~Longer life (average 2500 hours)
~Longer life (average 2500 hours)
~High level of heat generation (requires care in use)
~Excellent brightness
Fluorescent Lamps ~Ideal for ambient, general and task lighting
~Excellent brightness
Fluorescent Lamps ~Ideal for ambient, general and task lighting
~Higher bulb replacement cost Purposes
~Cannot be dimmed
~Produces a warm white light
~Cannot be dimmed
~Produces a warm white light
~Temperature sensitive (cool environment)
~Suited for lights which need to be kept on for extended periods can shorten bulb life)
~Low operating costs
~Energy efficient (uses 75% less energy to produce same amount of light)
~Longer life (up to 8000 hours) - lasts longer than incandescent bulb
Excellent brightness with little surface glare Bulb stays cool
Full Spectrum/ Natural Light Lamps ~Ideal for task lighting
~Higher bulb replacement costs than regular incandescent bulbs efficiency (uses 82% less energy ~Cannot be dimmed )
~ Longest life (up to 10,000 hours)
~Glare free light reveals vivid colors and improves contrast
~Full spectrum light reduces eyestrain and allows you to see and feel better
So with that said in our mini creating and other crafting world I would
say it pays to go with what is best on you eyes which actually last
longer anyway which means your less likely to buy fewer bulbs so it
should all work out just about the same but will make you feel and of
course see better.
