I ordered an Oreck Restaurateur PR3200 here on eBay.  Brand New, In The Box.  I also ordered a Fuller Brush Electrostatic Carpet Sweeper here on eBay.  Before you purchase one of these carpet sweepers, there are a few things you should know.

THE ORECK RESTAURATEUR PR3200...

Everyone with a television has seen the commercial for a lightweight Oreck product.  Especially infamous is the electrical vacuum cleaner.  This particular product is a non-electric one.  It is a wet/dry unit, that works on ony surface.  It is good sized.  It is generally used for those moments when company is coming in 10 minutes and there is no time for the upright or cannister vacuum cleaner you have in the closet.  So you whip this baby out, quickly go over the carpet, and waaalaaa!  Your carpet looks nice.  Well, yeah,  sort of...

DOES IT WORK LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO...

I suppose it does under the best of circumstances.  As a housewife and mother, I personally wouldn't know about the best of circumstances regarding housekeeping.  I'm an expert on carpet drudgery though.  And kid spills.  And dog hair.  And vacuums of just about any make or model.  This model is alright in some circumstances, but certainly not most.  Remember the carpet sweeper of your youth?  It had a roller brush?  This doesn't.  This has a rubber squeegie kind of roller.  It doesn't pick up squat for the price tag.  If you have active children, this might be a way to get them to help clean or to tire them out, but it doesn't really do the job it says it will do, which is pick up anything and everything.  I have better luck with a broom to be honest.  It picks up a few things if you go over and over and over an area.  Who has that kind of time?  Dog hair on the carpet?  Forget-about-it.  Not going to happen.  Spills on the carpet?  Forget-about-it.  So what does it do?  My experience is that it just mashes whatever you are trying to get up further into the carpet.  How about on the floor?  Faster to use a broom.  Easier to use a broom.  Doesn't get into corners.  Just moves things around.  SERIOUSLY, SAVE YOURSELF THE FRUSTRATION AND JUST USE A BROOM!

RETURNS...

Be very careful here on eBay when you purchase one of these.  Ask the seller some important questions like: If it doesn't work like it is billed, can I return it?  The answer to this question is generally NO, because most of the folks selling them are not Authorized Oreck Dealers.  Don't just look at the return policy, actually contact the seller and ask.  While you're at it, ask about the advertised 10 year warranty.  How do you get it?  I still don't know because it sure didn't come any paperwork in the box.  When I contacted my seller about it, I was told that, you guessed it, that he wasn't an Authorized Oreck Dealer and that I would have to contact the company.  Yeah, that'll happen.  Imagine that phone call:  "Hi.  This is MetzyMom and I purchased one of your products online from eBay and it didn't come with any warranty paperwork.  Could you please send me the paperwork and issue a warranty on your $200 vacuum that I got for $50?"  I can hear them laughing now...  Now, just to be fair, it isn't that Oreck isn't an excellent company with excellent products.  It just didn't score for this one product.  Please check my other guides and reviews because I LOVE their shampoo-er.  I don't think there is a better one on the market!

THE FULLER BRUSH ELECTROSTATIC CARPET SWEEPER...

Fuller Brush is an old, namebrand company.  They generally product quality products that are designed to make your life easier.  And this sweeper does.  I was shocked to see how small it is.  Looks like a toy vacuum!  But it works.  Works Great.  It has a brush (duh, Fuller Brush) roller that actually sweeps and picks things up off both carpets and floors.  Again, I say that using a broom on the floors is best, though this does work quickly and efficiently, but corners are still going to need a broom, if only to sweep it out to where your FB Sweeper can get it.  If you just have to do it quick but not perfect, the FB sweeper does have corner brushes on the unit and they work pretty well.  But it is magic on the carpet.  I don't think I'd use it for spills, but for day to day quick cleanup, for those moments when you have 10 minutes notice that guests are coming, for pet hair, or even long human hair, you can't beat this carpet sweeper.  It is small and lightweight, yet does an amazing job in a very short time frame.  It is easy to clean out and store because of it's size.  I love mine!

RETURNS AND WARRANTY...

Most of the FB sellers are Authorized Dealers.  The sweepers are 'drop shipped' from the FB company in Great Bend, KS.  The sellers who are authorized, are very meticulous about you knowing that they are FB Dealers and really point that out in their listings.  Try to use an Authorized Dealer.  The others who are selling this unit are getting the same price as the dealers, so it isn't like you're getting a better deal by going through eBay, like was the case with the Oreck.  The return policies are not through the dealers, but through the company, so returns are not a problem if you are unhappy with your sweeper (which you won't be).  The warranty is good for a year and all the paperwork to get your warranty is in the box.  You can't go wrong!

If this guide/review has been in any way helpful, please check the YES box below.  If you sell Oreck products, before you check 'no', please see my other guides and reviews.  I'm not 'down' on Oreck, just this product.  I don't sell either item, I just own both, so I think that gives me the ability to fairly compare them.

If you have any questions before purchasing one of the above items, ask the seller or you can email me, via eBay, for some brutally honest answers about both from an owner of both products.

Thank You for your time and interest.
