This is one of the most popular and elegant patterns in stainless steel flatware. Made from a high quality 18/8 blend of chromium steel and nickel, it was designed for long term corrosion resistance while maintaining a soft silver-like lustre. The pattern is now discontinued. Oneida backed this pattern with a 25 year warranty. The set is dishwasher safe. This is the house pattern selected for use in several Marriott hotels.
Not all pieces are available all the time but the patient buyer will have many opportunities to buy over time. Oneida maintains factory outlet stores across the US where it is sometimes available in the closeout bins. Buyers would be wise to be aware of what the individual pieces and complete sets sell for in the stores before venturing into any auctions. ebay will offer all of the pieces over time whereas the stores may not carry all of the serving pieces nor any of the youth items.
These are the pieces that were available:
Standard setting:
Dinner knife (hollow) 8 1/2"
Dinner fork 7 3/8"
Salad fork 6 1/4"
Table spoon 6 7/8"
Teaspoon 6"
Optional setting:
Steak knife (hollow) 9"
Dinner knife (solid) 8 3/8"
Cocktail/seafood fork 6"
Ice Tea spoon 7 5/8"
Round soup spoon 5 7/8" (also called a bouillon spoon)
Service pieces:
Sugar spoon 6" (has two notches near neck)
Butter knife 6 3/4"
Serving fork 8 3/8"
Serving spoon (solid) 8 3/8"
Serving spoon (pierced) 8 3/8"
Gravy ladle 7 1/2"
Cake server (pierced) 8 3/4"
Youth pieces:
Knife 6 3/4"
Fork 5 7/8"
Baby fork 4 3/8"
Baby spoon 4 1/4"
Infant spoon 5 5/8"
Over the years, there have been very few and almost imperceptible changes in the pattern. Most of these have occurred on the underside of the neck in the traditional location of the manufacturers name and marks. As changes at Oneida and Rogers have taken place, minor revisions in the makers marks followed. "Oneida" can be in script or printed and "Rogers" may or may not be present. Oneida also has a manufacturing facility in Canada so some pieces may even say "Canada" on them.
It takes a trained eye to notice the changes in the serrated cutting edge on the knives. Longer, thicker, deeper and angular striations and striation patterns are the variations. None affect the appearance of the knife but do affect the cutting efficiency. The steak knife has a pointed end while the regular knives are rounded.
We have sixty-four table settings in the pattern. Yes, 64! And, we still buy. There is no such thing as too many serving pieces. Do you have enough serving utensils on Thanksgiving? If no, then you need some more. Our set gets used constantly and has held up extremely well for us over many years of use. If you entertain regularly, your guests will notice that you use real service rather than plastic. You can buy plastic over and over or buy the real thing once. You are probably going to have this set for 10+ years; it is well worth the investment to acquire additional pieces.
Besides ebay, check the bins at Goodwill, Deseret Industries and Salvation Army. That's where many sellers obtain their stock. When they appear in these stores they are about 25 cents each. Well worth checking.
Please drop me a line if you have any questions or care to suggest other points to cover.
I am not a dealer and I do not sell.
