BREAST CANCER

According to the American Cancer Society 212,000 new cases of breast cancer will be reported this year and 40,000 will die of this disease. It is estimated that 1 in 9 women will get breast cancer before age 85. Estrogen, obesity, childlessness, menopause,after age 55, menstruation before age 9, and a high fat diet are risk factors in getting breast cancer. Cigarettes and alcohol both increase a woman's chances of getting breast cancer. Stress is also believed to play a role in breast cancer. Men can also get breast cancer, but they account for less than 1% of breast cancer cases. It is good to examine your breast once a month.
