I know that most people can spot a scam a mile away but these guides are for the people who might be tempted to take them up on their offer. I know we’ve all heard it a million times but every single time an email like this shows up in your inbox just repeat after me “If it’s too good to be true, it probably is”
A PROJECT CONTRACTORS NEEDED
I have been directed to contact your firm on behalf of the ljaw
development community Ekeremor local government area of the Niger delta region of Bayelsa state, Nigeria, concerning development proposals in the above named local government. Following the recent survey embarked upon by the federal government and oil companies operating in the area to access the extent of damage caused by oil spillage, the federal government in collaboration with the oil firms has directed that the sum of one hundred and eighty seven million dollars be disbursed to the six affected communities for rehabilitation and development purposes as you might be aware, the current negotiations entered into with the oil producing communities by the federal government has to a very large degree been very successful thereby leading to the release of the eight
foreign( expatriate )oil workers hitherto being held hostage by the oil
communities. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the two partiesbefore the release was effected. As stipulated 0n Punch (Nigerian News Paper) Monday June 5th, 2006 VOL17 NO 19, 619 .www.punchng.com,
Furthermore, in keeping with the term of agreement reached on both sides, the federal government has concluded a Damage Assessment Survey (D.A.S.) that includes among others the following: Conclusive statistical data of persons living in the affected communities.
(2) An assessment of structures and farmlands affected by the spillage.
(3) Development Utilization Capabilities (D.U.C) of the affected communities.
Base on the following Damage Assessment Survey (D.A.S) the federal government subsequently directed the release of the money for the following:
(I) A fully equipped ultramodern hospital.
(II) Primary and post primary school in each of the affected communities.
(III) Construction of access motor able roads to link the communities with
other communities in the region.
(IV) Dredging of the canals in certain communities.
(V) Construction of an ultramodern recreational center for the entire
community.
In line with the federal government directive of a 50/50 participation of both expatriate and local contracting firms, l have hereby been directed on behalf of the ljaw community abroad to contact your firm
For a draft proposal which must include among others the following:
(I) Evidence of project capability and documentary evidences stating previous projects handled in that capacity.
(II) Level of manpower and equipment available for undertaking said project.
The above is in line with federal government directives for the release
of funds for the project. Also note that, part of the directives states
categorically that there must be at least a 60% local content in the area of labour employment, as this will go a long way to enhanced the employment situation of the various oil producing communities. Furthermore, the federal government has directed that a 70% mobilization fees will be disbursed to successful firms for the commencement of the project, so as to forestall any delays whatsoever, bearing in mind that the present leadership would greatly wish these project commissioned and completed within their tenure to this end, any persons or companies who indicate interest and meet with the requirements and approval of the supervising bodies will be paid mobilization and expected to commence work immediately.
