Items I've used:
1) Jabra 250
2) Bluespoon AX
3) Bluespoon 5G
Bluespoon AX vs. 5G
1) Battery life: The AX is clearly superior here. The battery lasts for the day, a recharge once a night will keep you talking all day long. The 5G requires a battery change around 3pm for me. It comes with 4 batteries, but it is a real pain to have to carry around easy-to-lose batteries, plus taking the battery out and changing them every day, twice a day. With the AX, you just plug it into the mini-USB charger and you're done.
2) Sound quality: Honestly, no big difference to me. I know the 5G is supposed to be clearly superior, but it was not $250 more superior. I honestly could not tell the difference.
3) Design: 5G clearly the winner here, half the size, makes you look like a secret agent instead of a Borg. The AX is pretty good too though, especially compared to the Jabra and Motorola units.
4) Ease of Use: So I almost lost the battery cover for the 5G twice in a week, plus I almost stepped on it. That's not easy to use. Try again Nextlink :)
5) "WOW" factor - clearly the 5G - if you must have ear-bling, this is it.
6) Comfort: Same, they use the same ear plug styles.
7) LED satisfaction: With the 5G, the LED is so dim that I can't ever tell if it is on or off, though this does make you look less Borg-like. The AX is bright and easy to tell.
8) Controls: The 2 button control of the 5G is not as easy to use as the 3 button control of the AX. I'm never sure if I held the button down for 2 seconds, or 5 seconds on the 5G, which controls different functions.
Overall:
Clearly, I love the 5G design and form factor, but I dislike the inconveniences that come along with that. Even if price were not a concern, I would recommend the AX.
As a bonus - both of these work really well for SKYPE users as well! Just get a USB bluetooth adapter for your computer.
