You're new to e-Bay and you haven't a clue. Well that in itself can be very confusing. I have been going through the listings these past few weeks and have found myself giving "newbie" e-Bayers a few tips. First, please read the e-Bay policies very carefully. One misread paragraph can be financially disasterous. For example, if you have an item that you will simply NOT, let go for less than what you bought it for, then place a reserve on it. Not placing a reserve will mean that your listing will sell for the winning bid.
For example, I was going through the FENDI listings and found a beautiful authentic FENDI fur coat for sale. The bid statred at .99 and was up to about $29.99 with less than 6 hours to spare. The item description was clear and well scripted, however what caught my eye was, " I WILL NOT SELL THIS COAT FOR LESS THAN $3500". Now if I were looking for a FENDI fur coat, perhaps I would have jumped on this rather quickly, but because this was the sellers very first listing, I had to contact them and let them know that if they had a reserve on this particular item then the winning bid that would be probably less than $3500 would have to be given to the winner. REGARDLESS! They did not read the simple e-Bay policies about setting reserves and obligations as sellers to get the product to the winning bidder. They had NO idea that if they did not meet the obligation as a seller, they could possibly be at risk of becoming suspended from e-Bay, indefinately and on thier first auction. Needless to say, the coat sold for a whopping $37.00+ 29.99 S/H= $66.99! Bargain right? Nope, the seller quickly contacted the winner and told them the coat was NO LONGER AVAILABLE. We'll see what the outcome is.
REMEMBER, take the time and read the policies. If you can print them out, do so and take your time. E-bay is a wonderful way to make great money and e-Bay makes it fun. If you have questions for the e-Bay staff just go to the links provided and they'll be more than happy to answer. No question is a dumb question.
