Hi,
I just started selling about 3 months ago on Ebay;however, Ive been a member for a few years. You need to get an Ebay store first thing and here's why:
You can list item if you have a store for .06 - .08 cents for 30 days!
Now thats a deal! Otherwise, a listing is going to be about $4.50 for a 10 day duration. You do have to pay for the Ebay store once a month the sum of about 16 bucks. But if you plan on selling alot, you need to.
When listing something on Ebay be very careful with your Title and sub title description. For example, Once i listed an item and in the title i put: works on windows 95, 98, XP, millinium edition. The next day i went online to check my 50 listings, and every single one was removed. I checked my email, and i found out that my listings were removed because of "Spamming" You see, by using too many keywords, windows 95, 95, XP, etc, the serch engines looks for an item based off of your Title words, so one has to be specific about the item and its description.
Also, be careful where you list your item. For instance, if you are selling a comic book, do not list it in a category that it doesnt belong, like in Camera's and Photos. This is considered spam as well and your listing will be removed.
Also, be careful about placing any exteranl links in your listing because Ebay looks at this as trying to get the buyer to purchase from your website.
If you want to place multible images in your listing you can pay ebay for your additional images at .15 / picture, or you can host them yourself, if you have an FTP (your a webmaster)
The listing pages can be as big as you want as far as i know .
In regards to listing items, you can sell it buy it now, or an auction. I like to use the buy it now. Not for any particular reason. I just prefer that method. I have also used the Featured plus. This costs about 19.95 for the service, plus additional for the listing. It can be expensive, but you get about 5 times the amount of people seeing your listing. Can be very lucrutive, but also you can loose your shirt. So be careful.
Also, I have recieved about 3 phoney eamils from what appeared to be PayPal and it wasn't! they wanted my account number! Please download Ebay's Account Guard to protect yourself!
About the percentage that ebays takes and payPal.
Ebay takes about 10% and PayPal 5%
This is based on my listings with the average listing between $5.00 and $10.00.
Well, I hope this helped
Steve
