Do not go into this blind, buy a blacklight. Ok, so I am soooo new at this. Once upon a recent time ago, a little old lady asked me to help her sell some of her glassware. Not knowing what I was doing I asked her if she cared what they sold for. 10 bucks each she said. I think I can do that, after all they were interesting but in my modern eye kinda old and ugly. You can already tell where this is going. I researched a little, asked around a little and nothing. Apparently, its a very elite world, not something you'd find at Walmart. Nothing came up except one little word, Antique. I decided to list some of the colored glass first and was absolutely bombarded by very experienced antique dealers, collectors, and some not so kind hearted people. Questions about this, that, and everything. I could barely answer them and barely keep up. What to do. I decided to ask other on line eBay antique dealer and you know what, they were kind enough to walk me through. I never thought of using Ebay that way but there were some really great souls out there. They helped me sound professional even though I wasn't and they helped protect me when I didn't know I was in harms way. I want to thank those generous people and say I made what I think was a killing on something I just happened to stumble on. Back to the blacklight. Although not always a reliable source, a flourescent big blacklight helped illuminate the little treasures I found. Some antiques glow a different color under black light adding authenticity and value to your listings. Either way, research first, ask around second, list third and cautiously. Make sure you list your item with a return policy that protects you first, client next. If the item brings a large price, require insurance, require a return fee, and pay yourself first. Good Luck
