Maybe you've already seen the sales pitch ebay sellers are handing out, I know I have. They're trying to sell the new presidentail dollar coins as error coins. Do NOT  be fooled by thier tactics!

Some are trying to get you to buy their dollar coins "because" the lettering on the coin edge is different from another coin shown, they think that you'll be fooled by their nice photos showing two different coins with one of them showing lettering readable as the coin is facing up, "obverse up" and another photo showing the lettering that is readable with the reverse facing up.

The truth is that when the coins enter the lettering equipment, they are feed into it randomly, there is no correct side, there is a fifty fifty chance the lettering will be readable with the obverse showing upwards.

Also the placement of the lettering is random as well.

I've bought many rolls of these new dollars, certainly not from ebay though, or the USMint, they are selling them at $1.40 ea. Just by visiting the local bank.

The first roll I opened the edge lettering was about fifty percent difference on which side the lettering faced.

Now of course many sellers will not outright say that this is a new error they "found", they'll make their ads along the lines like "Presidential error???" , like they're not sure this is an error, they won't confirm it as an error, because they know it isn't, and if they really don't know it's not an error then they're really not too bright.

I've seen other ads selling errors on the obverse of the coin, these new coins are being minted by the millions and once in a while you'll see blurbs from grease, etc. even stress marks. Once again, don't be fooled by these clever con artists, they just want more than their dollar is worth, and they depend on those suckers that are born every minute.

Even if you are paying a couple of dollars for their so-called error coin, these guys are ripping you off! Your coin will never be worth more than one lousy buck.

Hope this helps! If so then click YES on the bottom!

Dirk~
