I buy a fair share of kids products, being a parent.
As of Sept 2006, these are the ones I've recently used and my opinion (and a disclaimer: I do NOT sell any of these products nor do I know anyone who does):
1. Lunchboxes or food carriers - Lunch on the go carrier - AVOID. Lunch on the Goal Carrier Lunch containers
This appealed to me because it looked nice and compact and each section fits together nicely - or so it seemed.
In reality, the three containers are too small to hold adequate portions of food, the ice pack doesn't keep the food cold enough for our taste and if you don't fit the containers together just so, the lid doesn't close, making it a challenge for kids to prepare a portable meal for camp or school or snacks. I like to encourage my children to be more independent; this product doesn't help.
2. Listerine Cool Agent Plaque detecor - AVOID. The blue dye bonded with our countertop (laminate) and it nearly took a power sander to get it out. Avoid the frustration.
3. Kikaflik Sports Trainer - YES, Recommended - highly! Kikiflik sports trainer Sporting Goods This gets high marks from me for its value and versatility. Basically it is a simple product to use but can be used with nearly every type of sports ball, from tennis balls to soccer balls. Also, it was developed by a coach and it is made very well. To use, a child lets the ball roll down the Kikiflik, steps on the other end and the ball goes up in the air, perfect for hitting with a bat, kicking into a soccer goal or playng catch alone or with a friend. Our kids love this! Even adults find it fun.
4. Guinness World Records 2007 - Recommended...but only for teens and up. . Guinness World Records 2007 Very well done. The very cool mirrored cover took a year to create and all the photos this year are brand new! Even reluctant readers have a hard time putting this one down, probaby because there is always a certain amount of bizarre or truly gross stuff in here, along with the informative and fascinating. They put the Jackson/Timberlake wardrobe malfunction in here, so parents should look this one over carefully before deciding if it is suitable or not
5. Goal! Dvd - Highly recommended for any soccer or sports fans. Goal! Dvd As of this writing, this is brand new and my teen loved it. It is suitable for family viewing, with one caveat - there are subtitles used on occasion, since the family portrayed speaks Spanish at home. If your child is not a strong reader, this may be an issue but most older children and teens (for which the movie is aimed) won't find this a problem. My son loved it!
