Make a set of Scented Sachet Pouches
This is an idea that is very quick to produce. Both beautiful and useful. Can be embellished to fit in with any gift, occasion or decor. And it a sure hit. Some of these pouches require less than a minute to make 2 or 3. Others will take less than 5 minutes to make.
Scented Sachets, Pomanders, and Pouches can be used in many ways and for many purposes. Let's begin by talking about what to make them out of:
Lace Sachet Bags: Quick and easy to make. You will need a piece of lace 2"x4". Fold and stitch down the side. Stitch across the bottom edge to form a sleeve. Fill (info below), pinch closed and tie with a ribbon.
A fabric Pouch: Another easy project. Tear a square of calico fabric about 4" square. Fold and stitch along one side. Stitch across the bottom to form a sleeve. Pull threads across the opening to form a fringed egde. Fill about half full, pinch closed and tie with a ribbon.
Hanky Pouch: Use a lacy hanky for this project. Draw a circle in the center of the hanky. Stitch a long running stitch all around the circle. Carefully begin pulling the thread to form a pouch. Just before closing the opening, fill, pull tight and tie. Fold down the corners to form a flower look at the top with the pretty edges.
Pre-made organza, drawstring sachet pouches: Fill loosely, pull and tie cords. Add a ribbon rose and enjoy.
Pre-made muslin drawstring bags. These bags are the quickest and easiest ones of all to use. They are appealing when left plain, and very simple to emblessing. Left plain, embellish or decorate, (see my guide on this subject) they are quick to manage and the open weave makes then a natural choice for the job. Just fill loosely so the air can circulate and tie.
What to fill them with:
Potpourri
Lavender Buds
Ultra Fine Aromatic Red Cedar
Rosemary
Cinnamon
Herb Scented Bath Teas
Just to name a few.
How to use them:
Make up a beautiful gift basket using several different fillers
Make an eye pillow/dream kit with flax seeds and herbs.
Use them alone in a box, basket or bag as a gift.
Include herb pouches or sachets with other items in a gift basket. (see my guides on gift baskets)
Or use them one by one:
A small, thoughtful hostess gift.
A a guest room for the your visitor to take when they leave.
Give to a friend in the hospital
Where to use them:
Tuck in a drawer
Hang in a closet on a coat hanger
Hang on a door knob, bed post or drawer pull
Hang on a wall on placed on a side table
Set your creativity free. You can create a beautiful and useful gift using these small bags, pouches and sachets.
Enjoy the process.
