Did you know if you're a Cingular customer your phone is automatically covered by a one (1) year warranty? Is your phone out of warranty? I am an ex-cingular employee! When they ask you how long you've had the phone, just something over 1 month, and under 12 months! They have no record other than when you started your contract! If they ask how you got the phone when you did, all you have to say is, "From a Cingular store, I bought it outright," which basically means you paid full price and didn't resign your contract. It's that easy! Before you call please read on...
VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure your phone does not have water damage. They will take apart your phone and look. Also if they ask if it's been dropped or damaged the phone, you have to say no. The only way they can tell is if something is physically cracked through or something is broken off. Scuffs and scapes can ARE considered normal wear and tear (even if it was caused by dropping it ;-])
Lastly, just make sure your phone isn't ancient, I would say rule of thumb no more than 3 years old, and GSM phones only (meaning it has a chip in the back of the phone, typically behind the battery).
