The so called SEAL Boots made by OTB (Over the Beach) are quiet popular on eBay now. Are they the official SEAL boot? Well, not exactly. First of all, if you want a pair of these (odhin models) , don’t bid more than $119.95 for them or you will be wasting your money. I know this may upset a few dealers, but you can buy them for that price directly from OTB and you don’t have to be a SEAL, DELTA, or any other kind of high speed, low drag operator. Yes, even airsofters can order them without submitting for a security clearance or background check! Google OTB boots to find out more information of them.
OTB came up with this design at the request of the SEALS, but I don’t think it is issued per se. Spec Ops units are given a certain amount of freedom compared to the average soldier in regards to what clothing and equipment they can use. Thus, you may find a SF unit wearing multicam which they purchased with unit funds, or even a SEAL team wearing the OTB boots.
OTB never makes the claim that their boots are the official ones, its only certain dealers on eBay who are bending the truth at times.
Are the boots worth it? I think so. I wear them in Iraq and there is not a lot of water around here to get them wet. But, I wanted a lightweight boot with ankle support that felt more like a tennis shoe then the common combat boots you see the normal soldiers wearing. I work out of armored SUVs in urban areas. I don’t have a need for mountain boots or even regular military issued boots. The shoes do have drain holes in the bottom, but are protected by a screen. The screen does keep out the majority of dust or sand, but they work well for me. I ordered mine directly from OTB and had them shipped to my APO here in Iraq. OTB seems to be a first class company with a great idea. You can learn more about the boots from Military Moron’s website. Once again, let Google be your battle buddy and do the research.
