Metallics are back. Everything from complete outfits and gowns to pieces and accessories. The fabrics are finer than those from the eighties and the look is softer more fluid clothes! Colors range full gammit from muted to pastels to jewel tones to bold colors. If you don't want the full metallic look, look for a few garments and accessories to bring a luminous look to your wardrobe.
Dresses are the big trend from almost every designer. Above the knee to mini and body conscious to voluminous. You will also see cocoon and trench coat styles. Top American designer, Michael Korrs introduced body conscious, assymetrical dresses in soft hues, sexy side slits and fluid skirts. His was probably the most realistic (runway to wardrobe) collection. Get ready to vamp your legs!
Gowns were fluid and the models appeared to be floating in air! Influences from the fourties and Greco-Roman designs were abundent. Rich colors in soft hues such as butter to canteloupe, sky blue to green and of course red. Prints are back, reminiscent of the 1970's. High waisted to body conscious designs accomodate every body type. Like the celebrities planning for the red carpet, You too can start looking toward these trends for your big day.
Pants will be high waisted; belts are a huge fashion accessory. Hot pants are really in and jumpsuit styles were prominent. Believe it or not leggings are back, as are A C Hammer voluminous pants! Low slung crotches were also featured. So look through those old clothes and save these looks.
Fashion Accessories leaned toward big, sturdy, suitcase-like bags to pretty purses on the belt. Hats are in as are fabric flowers with netting, Belts ranged from broad and wide to narrow with leather leading the way.
So look through your wardrobe and save clothes that feature these trends. Start looking for garments and accessories that are "Fashion Forward". Spring is bound to bring higher prices for thes garments so prepare for the trends now.
