ARE YOU NEW TO EBAY?  THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR!

HERE ARE A FEW TIPS TO PREVENT YOU FROM BUYING AND ENDING UP WITH A POSSIBLE PROBLEM!

1.)  ALWAYS CHECK A SELLERS FEEDBACK NUMBER!  If a seller has below 99.4%, be aware when thinking to bid!  Also, even though they may have a high number, click on their number and see how many negative feedbacks they have.  If you see numerous negative comments from buyers, think carefully about bidding.

2.)  CHECK WHAT TYPE OF PAYMENT SELLER TAKES.  If a seller only takes money orders and not PAYPAL (which protects buyers) be aware.  Without PAYPAL, you have no protection against getting your money back if item is damaged, soiled or broken, etc.  IMPORTANT-----MOST seller's will NOT accept returns if the item does NOT FIT!  If they do not have the measurements listed, email them through eBay's "ask seller a question" and ask for the measurements, otherwise you may end up stuck with something that does NOT fit.

3.)  ALWAYS FEEL FREE TO ASK SELLER ANY QUESTIONS.  If a seller has nothing to hide, they will answer your question.  I have asked seller's simple questions with NO reply!  In this case, I do not bid on that item.  Any honest seller should be more than willing to answer all questions to make a sale.

4.)  I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING "BANK TRANFERS" TO OVERSEAS SELLERS.  With all the identity fraud these days, I would never pay by this method!  Also, you have no way to get your money back if there is a problem with the item or you do not receive it.  Think about it, they are in another country, you have no recourse against them by paying this method.

5.)  CLOTHING!  If a seller does not put the measurements in their listing, ask them for the measurements.  As we all know, not all brands fit the same and if you know the measurements, you have an idea if the item will fit!

6.)  ILLITERACY.  If a seller has numerous misspellings in their listing, I would be careful as this seller may not be too bright.

7.)  HIGH SHIPPING FEES.  If a seller has a high shipping charge,  try to find the same item with a lesser charge or ask the seller if they can ship at a cheaper rate.  I sell on ebay and know when I see a high shipping charge, the seller is trying to make money off you.  I have seen listings for the same item I may be selling, yet their shipping charge may be $3, 4, 5 and up!  Ebay prohibits inflated shipping charges!

8.) INSURANCE!  Ebay prohibits sellers from asking more than the Postal Service requires for shipping.  If you are in doubt about this, go to USPS.com and check the rates.  Rates are calculated at the end of the auction for the EXACT amount you paid JUST for the item. The post office does not cover the cost of shipping!

9.)  BE AWARE BEFORE YOU BID!  If you are unsure of bidding on a certain item, ask a friend or family member who may be familiar with eBay what they think.  When you have bought a few items, you will learn how to deal with good and bad sellers.

10.)  JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT IT NOW.....................Please do not pay more than you are willing just to have a certain item.  I have waited and found better quality items at better prices.  I know it is exciting to find something you love, but if it's an especially a high priced item, I would wait till another comes along.  I can honestly say that since 2001, when I began on eBay, there is nothing I have not been able to find sooner or later.  Also, be aware that sellers charge more at Christmas!  Some think if they sell then, they will get higher bids than selling at other times of the year.

11.)  WHEN A NEW AND POPULAR ITEM COMES OUT.........Don't buy it right away!  A perfect example is Harry Potter books.  When they were first released, buyers were willing to pay ANYTHING!  Now, if you check, they are selling for much less and some are reselling them after they have read it at much lower prices.

ALSO, BE AWARE OF FAKE ITEMS WHEN BUYING , ESPECIALLY DESIGNER ITEMS.  IF YOU SEE AN ITEM YOU ARE POSITIVE IT IS A FAKE, PLEASE REPORT IT TO EBAY.  LETS GET THESE TYPE OF SELLERS OFF EBAY!!
