In 2000 I stumbled across Robert Kiyosaki's book, "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". It was like a breath of fresh air! Have you heard the phrase, "When the student is ready the teacher will appear"? When that's what happened, I was still in debt, but my wife and I were working hard looking for an answer to our problems.
When I read that Robert had been through poor times and through property investments worked his way out of them, it gave us hope. I quickly read the follow on books and we stretched financially and bought a second flat. Living in the smaller one and renting out one, our income was finally in a positive each month.
With Bulgaria joining the EU in 2007 and being married to a Bulgaria, Eti and I decided to buy in Bulgaria. We bought a flat in Sofia, the capital and this flat make us as much as the flat did here (less overheads made for a better profit).
We now have a number of rented properties in Bulgaria, managed by a superb agent.
All this came from reading books like Rich Dad, Poor Dad.
