~The following is just my opinion and has nothing to do with the sellers of this item. ~
I was so excited to see this kitchen play set that can be used for your 11.5 inch dolls including Barbie and Ken and even G.I. Joe. Being a product made by Sears with the Kenmore name gives you very high expectations of this item. The set is adorable on the outside.
The nice points of this item. It has all the appliance one little girl or boy would want for their doll house. The appliance are all separate so you can place them anywere you would like. Perfect scale to the dolls listed above. It is ALL plastic. Even the looking glass doors to the oven and microwave. Not made of glass as some may beleve. Once again it is adorable looking. But.......
~The Designers Did Not Think Things Out~
The cabinets on all items have handles too small even for a child of four to grasp open. Some do open up easier then others. The bottom shelfs stick and are very hard for my self even my teenager to open. Let alone a child of four on up. With out lifting the whole thing up to try and open. Which means if you have any items on shelf they will get tossed all over the place. After you play with this item they will loosen which means you now have a ghost in your dollhouse that opens up the cabinets. It might become frustrating either way for any child.
The Sink unit with the cabinet above. It is the biggest part of this unit. Very basic, well its a sink. And is just fine for this set. The faucet does move from side to side. But the knobs do not turn. Which is fine if it is for the younger children.
The Dishwashing unit is okay as well but they are just bins. With a little fan that moves when you touch it. The bins come out all the way.
The oven is cute. No lighting and not a glass door. It has a little storage bin under the oven to store the pots and pans. The Microwave is a sticker and the unit I have the door does not stay closed. It came with a ghost. In the picture it looks like it is a smoked colored glass. It is a clear color.
The biggest disappointment in this set is the refrigerator. When one looks on the outside it is so very cute. The plus is the doors open seperatly. When you open the door, the inside is so very plain and not very functional for barbie items. No shelfs on the inside refrigerator or freezer door. Like the ones we all have come to know and love. No vegetable or meat storage bins. But it does look nice from the outside and for some thats what counts.
The second is all of the items backing is cardboard. That if not properly stored will warp. In the heat it will in no time start to curve.
I think it is great for the younger children that do not want to wait for the dollhouse. But I keep buying until I find one that completely suits our needs.
All and all this would be great for someone who likes to do ooak. And really has the knowledge to make it better. The Cabinets that have a black tint to them are blue. Look strange. Great fun to paint over. The item is durable and no chocking hazard that I see except for the pots, pans and spatula, pizza tray. And quite possible the little movable part in the dishwasher. And if the toddler can muster the sink faucet out that too. But it is sears so it is suppose to be sears tuff.
I just wanted you to know what I have found. Its not so bad. But, I expected so much more from this item. I am building a Barbie doll house and this is a good base to have.
