Speaking from experience, I wanted to share some tips I have learned about buying and selling on eBay. This isn't just for newbies, its great info for anyone. Reading various guides is a great way keep our skills honed, and learn how to keep inventory moving.
- Don't just go through and sell anything and everything you find in your house. I know its fun to list, but wasting money on listing fees is not why we wanted to start this in the first place. Be patient on finding items to sell. Look for unique items if you go to estate/yard sales. In my attempts at selling clothing items, only name brand will sell. Be wise with your choices, be honest about your items, and you will have repeat customers and great feedback!
- Research each item before you sell it. It's important to look up your items, on eBay even, to see how much they are going for, what they top out at, and to also find out info on the item you may not have known about. You dont want your items to just sit. Thats another tip of how to keep the inventory moving.
- Be picky! Dont sell items you or your family wouldn't use, if you had a use for it. Your reputation is on the line!
- Build your reputation with great communication skills. Check back often for possible questions submitted about your items listed, that way the person will have the info they need and wont have to rely on someone else to give it to them. (Repeat customers!) Also, after an item has been won, keep in contact with the buyer. Inform them on when their item was sent, etc. and make them build a trust in you, Who knows, you might even get them to unknowingly advertise your items for you!
- Ask questions! There are several help places to go to right here on eBay. Take advantage of them! They will help you find your way around this site with fewer problems and less headache.
- Last but not least, have fun! Insert your own fun personality in your descriptions, blogs, etc, and people will respond positively! Great way not to get burned out and keep it interesting.
