Often you hear from consumers that the Sony Playstation 2 or PS2 will not play games that have blue bottom discs as opposed to silver bottom discs. The blue bottom discs are actually CD's or Compact Discs and the silver bottom discs are DVD discs. When they insert the disc in their Playstation 2 or PS2 they get a disc read error message. If you get this error message and the disc has a blue bottom, chances are it is not a defective game but your system lens has a problem.
If your system will not play the blue bottom discs this means your system has a dirty, scratched or defective lens. Often you can open the system and access the lens and clean it and this will solve your problem. Sometimes you will need to replace the system lens. There are many online stores that sell replacements lens. You will need to know the model number of your Playstation 2 or PS2 to know what lens to buy. It is not difficult to replace the lens and most people can do this themselves at home.
The best and easiest way to tell if your lens may need cleaning or replacing is to test the game on a friends system if that option is available to you. Also if this happens on all blue discs you try to play, then you know you have a problem.
