My Coke Rewards Points - How much are they worth?
Consider the following before spending your hard earned money on My Coke Rewards points. If you do the math, one point is worth 4 cents. As an example a $25 Adidas gift card will cost you 625 pts. 2500 cents divided by 625 = 4 cents per point. Another example is the Nintendo DS which goes for 3250 points. 3250 x 4cents = $130 which is about what they sell for at Walmart or Target. If you check for yourself, everything on the program has pretty much the same value.
I have bought points myself but I won't pay more than 3 and a half cents a point. I have seen points going for as high as 10 cents each! Think about this, if you are going to spend 10 cents a point, then for the above mentioned gift card it will cost you $62.50. That's right, for a $25 gift card! The Nintendo DS? How about $325. Thats more than twice what you could just buy it for at your local retailer.
Add to that the fact that the program itself is getting very iffy. The more desirable items are only available for very limited times. I have been trying to get games for my DS and they were out of stock after being on the site for less than half a day. I have actually quit buying points for that reason. Just be careful not to overspend. I'd hate to hear of anybody getting stuck with a bunch of points they bought. I still have over a thousand of which about half are ones that I bought on ebay. I really doubt now that I'll ever get a chance to get the stuff I really want with them.
Still the program was pretty good until recently. So many people have been redeeming points that they simply can't keep up. It can only get worse as we reach the end of the program which is set at the end of the year. I would really think twice about buying points now unless you get an unbelievable deal. If I were selling them, I think I would get rid of as many as I could as soon as possible.
