My Chemical Romance - A Great Band
My Chemical Romance formed under less than auspicious circumstance shortly after the September 11th attacks. The original band was comprised of Mikey and Gerard Way, Ray Toro on guitar, and Chicago native Bob Bryar on rhythm. My Chemical Romance borrowed from a diverse set of influences, such as Nirvana, The Misfits, Ozzy Osbourne, and Queen, to create the debut album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love.
This small time release went out on Eyeball Records in 2002. Popular tracks on this album included Vampires Will Never Hurt You, and Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough for the Two of Us. Two years later, the band got a deal with a larger company called Reprise Records and went on tour with the likes of Avenged Sevenfold.
Popular tracks from their next release included I'm Not Okay, which topped out at number four on the US Modern Rock Chart, and Thank You For The Venom, which hit the top hundred on the UK Singles Chart. The band continues to defy easy labels, such as "EMO." The group is expected to put out a new album sometime soon, currently entitled The Rise and Fall of My Chemical Romance.
My Chemical Romance is well known for passionate, intense stage performances and clever political commentary and theatrical lyrics. You can also see horror and comic underpinnings to their music and shows. In 2005, Green Day asked My Chemical Romance to open up their tour gigs. Thanks to that exposure, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge sold over million albums by 2005.
