In 2002, Munro Gifts began the Faerie Glen series of numbered faerie collectibles.  They have grown in popularity as each new collection has been offered.  Each faerie has a unique personality, theme and coloring.  Their similarities are only in their beauty.  In this guide, I'll offer advice on collectibles in general, the most popular pieces in each collection, what's retired and where it can be found, and what's new and how soon you can get it!

Starting your collection...

When you begin to collect anything, there are a few things to remember.  After you decide you have to have it, and you want more of it, you need the following to begin to have value for your collection:

• a safe and secure location to display or maintain your collection
• a clean environment, preferably free of dust, dampness or direct sunlight
• a storage location for all certificates of authenticity, tags and original boxes and packaging
• receipts for purchases with dates and costs clearly visible
• Additional considerations include:
• do you have an original advertisement for your item(s)
• was there any promotional material or mini catalog that came with your purchase
• did you register your item with the seller or manufacturer, what date & where
• is there an email list or newsletter you can get that keeps you informed about new items, retirement notices, any changes or recall notices, or other information

Remember that today, yes, you absolutely love what you collect.  Tomorrow things may change & you might have a valuable resource with your collectible that could bring you big dollars if you choose to sell it.  The more information you have about your item, the better.  It makes it easier to sell, easier to prove you have the item you are presenting and easier to determine value.  Even if you want to keep your collection forever, you made need as much information as possible to determine insurance value.
