Props and Wardrobe from Hollywood productions are fun and exciting items to own, collect and display. Whether it is for a touch of Hollywood in you home theater, or as a long term investment that you can enjoy while you own it, the right Hollywood memorabilia is always a great item to own. The most important thing to consider when shopping for the right item is it's authenticity. There are a number of reputable dealers on eBay where you can find items that came directly from the studios. Look for a certificate of authenticity that has some providence going back to the original studio that owned the item. Without a traceable paper trail right back to the studio, or another verifiable source for the item, it's claim as genuine is as good as any other promise you have ever received...only as good as the person that gave it to you. The better the "papers", the better the resale value will be on the item years down the line. Avoid items where the seller makes claims that are in any way odd or even slightly hard to believe. Just because an item looks like it is from the fifties, and the seller says that it is from the OZZIE and HARRIET show, it doesn't mean that it is. I am not saying that these sellers are not telling the truth, I am just saying that the only way your item will be worth something in the future is if there is a way to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the history of the item back to the time when it was used by the studios.
