This Guide is to help you Charge your Motorola Q when it will no longer Charge via AC Charger(Wall Charger), Car Charger, or Standard USB HookUp.

We purchased our Q in April 2007, and have used it/use it 24 hours a day. Our Q is out of the timeframe for the Manufacturers 1-YR Warranty, and will not charge via AC Charger, Car Charger, or with the Standard USB Data Cable Connection to our PC/Laptop. We have replaced the battery and it appears that the "bad connection" is within the internal mechanics of the phone itself. Being that our Q is a little over a year old and in excellent condition, we're not yet ready to purchase a replacement(even with MANY low cost replacements on eBay).

Our Solution: If we use the Q's USB Data Cable and Activate the Modem Link with our PC/Laptop, the phone will charge perfectly. Theres no need to be connected to the Internet, only to ACTIVATE the Modem Link on the phone by connecting it to a computer. If we are connected to the Internet via USB Modem Link, it charges perfectly that way as well(but an Internet Connection is not necessary).

To do this, just go into the START MENU on your phone,

  • SELECT the MODEM LINK OPTION
  • CLICK ACTIVATE
  • CLICK DONE
  • And CONNECT your Q's USB DATA CABLE from your Q to your PC, and proper charging will began.

To Check your Battery Power while charging, just CLICK SETTINGS from the START MENU

  • Scroll Down to the Letter G and CLICK MORE
  • Click the Letter C (POWER MANAGEMENT)
  • And your Q's Battery Strength/Power will be displayed here. You can monitor the process as your charging by watching the Battery Bar.

Being that we use our Motorola Q pretty much 24/HRS a day, we tend to connect/reconnect our USB Data Cable Often, with many times up to 15-20 times per day. The Charging Port has been most likely become worn from excessive use(not abuse).

We hope that you find this eBay Guide Helpful, and hope it helps you charge your Q without having to replace it. If you founf this Guide HELPFUL, please let us know(and other know) by Clicking YES below!
