Okay--this unit is a little big! But if you have room for it
(17x6x20) then it is worth the 5.1 channel dolby surround and built-in digital
and analog tuner. The DVD drive plays mp3 cd's and DVD-R's. I have a Pioneer
receiver in my house with 450 watts--the DCP501 has 50 more watts.
The unit supports composite and S-Video (you should use S-Video to your TV) and lots of inputs and outputs to connect to video game systems and other media devices. This is not the unit for the home audiophile - it is great for those wanting to play DVD's and TV in home theater surround sound at a discount.
I recommend to: families wanting to have a home theater as well as college students who throw parties and don't want to spend $800+ on a receiver!
