All Motorola battery are embedded with a 15 alpha characters code that will tell you the date of manufacture up to the week of the year.
Here is a sample of a 15 alpha character battery code including the period.

The year code of manufacture is located on the 9th position from the left. On the sample above, it a P which indicate it was manufactured in year 2005.
M is 2002, N is 2003, O is 2004, P is 2005, Q is 2006
The week code is located on the 10th and 11th positions from the left.
A is 0, B is 1, C is 2, D is 3, E is 4, F is 5, G is 6, H is 7, I is 8, J is 9, K is 10, L is 11 and so on
Equipped with this chart, you can check now if your battery is still under warranty or not. Avoid buying battery that are old since the battery cells might have deterioated indicated by the fact that a complete charge will not sustain the standby or talktime published by Motorola.
Important: New Lithium Ion batteries must be FULLY CHARGED and FULLY DISCHARGED 2 to 3 times, before being FULLY CONDITIONED. Please remember that a new Lithium Ion battery's full performance and longevity is only achieved after 2 to 3 complete charge and discharge cycles. After you go through 2 to 3 cycles, you`ll never have to condition your battery again!
