If you are in the market for a Motor Home, be sure to ask these questions.
1. Email me a copy of the title.
(reason) Many sellers advertise the year different from the title. The year on the title is the year of the Home.
2. Send me the VIN number
(reason) I have seen many auctions with erroneous VIN numbers. Get the correct number, so you can run a CARFAX or similiar check on the vehicle. Do this before you bid.
3. What is the correct size of the motor and the Horsepower?
(reason) Many auctions give incorrect engine size and Horsepower.
Especially Diesel engines.
4. What is the measured length of the Motor home from bumper to bumper?
(reason) Many sellers measure from the ladder rack or extended trailer hitch, to pick up an extra foot. I foot means a lot in retail value.
5. Send me a detailed photo of the roof.
(reason) There are a lot of rubberized roofs for sale and they are fine, if they have been maintained and kept sealed. Leaks are the most complained of item in Motor Homes.
6. Are there any soft spots in the floor?
(reason) Soft spots occur when there is excessive water presence
This is just a few of the questions to ask and I will be adding more in a few days. This is from personal experience and I hope it may be helpful to you.
