I have had so many customers e-mail with questions about the different kinds of fragrances that I decided to pass on some information I found very helpful when answering questions for potential buyers. I hope that you will find the information included in this guide helpful when selling or purchasing your favorite scent!
Q: What is the difference between Perfume, Ea de Parfume, Eau de Toilette, and Eau de Cologne?
A: The difference is the oils in the fragrance. These oils are called "juice." The highest concentrate of "juice" is found in perfume or parfum. Next would be Eau de Parfum, then Eau de Toilette, and finally Eau de Cologne. The higher the concentrte of "juice" the longer your fragrance will last, and the less you will need to apply.
Q: Why do fragrances last longer on some people than others?
A: People with dry skin usually find that thier fragrance holding time is shorter than that of those with oily skin types because oily skin has more natural moisture to hold the fragrance longer.
Q: How can I make my perfume last longer?
A: Fragrances last longer on some people than others because of the difference in skin types and PH levels. So for people with dry skin who want to make their scent last longer, apply a scented lotion to match your perfume to add moisture to your skin before you apply your fragrance. This form of application is usaully reffered to as layering. Another way to make your scent last longer is to apply your fragrance low on the body so that your scent will rise and you won't lose it as quickly. The best kept secret for holding a scent all day is to apply a light spraying to your hair! You hair is pourus and will hold a scent longer than your skin!
I hope that you found this information useful and informative!
