Moschino- A Guide to Moschino & Fashion
Moschino emerged in 1983 as the brainchild of Italian designer Franciso Moschino. A line within the Aeffe fashion group (which also includes Jean Paul Gaultier, Narciso Rodriguez, and Alberta Ferretti) , Moschino started out with the motto "classico con twist," or classics with a twist. The tone was humorous and light-hearted, with a definite nod to couture, for more affordable prices.
After Moschino's death, Rosella Jardini became the current head of design and has taken the company in a slightly different direction. The humor has taken a backseat to a more whimsical kind of sex appeal, with obvious classical undertones. In addition to the Moschino label, which offers both men's and women's wear, there is also Moschino Cheap & Chic, which is a slightly more affordable alternative.
Moschino apparel runs the gamut from casual tee shirts to elegant dresses. The designer tee shirts are available in many styles, some of which feature rhinestone designs or screened prints. Moschino dresses include knitted designs, baby doll dresses, ruffled silk dresses, and many stunning "little black dresses."
In addition to stylish apparel, Moschino also has a complete line of fashion accessories. Sunglasses are available in many styles, with designs including sleek metallic frames and classic tortoise shell designs. There is also a considerable amount of variety in the designs of their handbags, ranging from backpacks and vintage purses to chic leather handbags, some of which are accented with animal prints designs.
