Wartime $1 banknotes were of the 1934 & 1935 silver certificates, but, had the added feature of a distinct yellow seal instead of the customary blue seal. If these notes were to fall into enemy hands, they would have immediately been declared invalid and rendered worthless. These notes were originally to have been used in the North Africa Campaign code-named “Operation Torch,” but were later used when General Patton and the U.S. Seventh Army invaded Sicily beginning on July 9, 1943. More times than not you are running into a fake that has been altered. To keep safe it is recommended that you buy certified items to avoid counterfeits and even that is not safe! To help curve this if you were to buy a certified item, you can have these items looked at again to make sure that a real item was not switched with a fake and yeah it cost for membership and grading but it is just another way of protecting yourself!!! Know what you are buying!! Happy ebaying!
