Since the original guide on chains has turned out to be so popular this is a follow up guide. The first guide covers the basic styles of chains. This guide will discuss fancy and ornate styles of chains.
Stampato chain:
This fancy chain has three rows of oval like shaped beads. The middle row is offset from the outside rows. The chain is flexible and attractive.
Mesh chain:
A mesh chain is tightly woven and has a pattern like a honeycomb. It is simple, elegant and gorgeous.
Byzantine chain:
This chain is distinguished by the "dome" shaped links. While the photo shows a flat style it is also available as a rounded chain composed of round links and a square chain. This is a style that was developed hundreds of years ago and is also known as the Birdcage or King's braid.
Rombo chain:
This style of chain has also been nicknamed the "paper chain" because it looks like a paper chain that school children make.
Wheat chain:
This style of chain was named wheat because it resembles the head of a wheat plant. This is a strong chain and it is similar to a rope chain but more loosely made.
Snail chain:
This chain got its name from the flat swirls in the oval links which resemble a snail shell.
This is just a sample of the variety of chains available. There are also variations to the chains that are listed.
These chains would look great by themselves or paired with other chains for a layered look.
