Want to spend a lot less on Fuel , I don't know about you but bicycles are to slow to take to the road with cars .And electric car replacement parts and repairs, cost more then gas at $10 a gal. and He#* they run on gas to , so forget electric cars,no savings yet .Maybe if they go Diesel or just plug in and recharge .Or maybe you need a moped .In the photo is a Sachs V5 .Most likely the worlds fastest moped . This will top out at maybe 55 mph or 60, most Peds only do 35mph .The Sachs may not be called a Moped in some states . 49cc and kick start . I can run this all month on a tank (1.5 gal) of gas .The old Honda 50 you don't see anymore got 100 + mpg and lasted untill the cows came home ,with no service ever . But the Sacks will blow one(50honda) off the road , sports cars in the city will not scare you to much .and the 2 stroker holds up OK .A lot of todays nice Electric start Mopeds are made vary well but hold speeds down to 35mph DOT rules , What the He*# dose some government jackass at DOT know about people and driving mopeds with cars (they get free cars and free gas from the tax payers and I would bet my life that such law,rule makers never road a moped in their lifes). Its only some what safe if you can keep up with traffic and better yet out run the cars if you are in a bad place . I will get "Off the Soap box"for a few  .The best moped for fuel savings is a Solex -Made in France .This thing is a real tank (I hit a big tree at night in the rain head on ,off a slight cliff at 10mph or more and only bent the front rim hammered it out the next day with some body shop tools and was back in action again untill I found a replacement rim but I was bang up as well and I took longer to repair myself (Hell with doctors) .The Solex  has a vary little engine that lowers on to the front tire and rubs on the botten and sides of the front tire .That will pull you down the road at a blistering 19 or 20 mph . The Gas tank holds a QT of gas(and oil) not a Gal . I road a  real old one  all summer on one tank of Gas & oil mix . I think I got 200 miles per qt. . The thing only has two speeds on and off . And I ran it from the Dealer to the Gas station on just Marvel Oil when I got it  . I think it could burn any fuel with lots of oil . The brakes almost don't work ,but you slow in a turn with a compression release anyhow and that saves on fuel . The lights are 6volt so you might need a Schwinn bike light for a safety add on for the FRONT AND the REAR . If you can ride a Bicycle you can most likely handle a moped . Be sure to get a Old Army helmet or a new Desert storm helmet and use it when  Mopeding out with the Cars . Better yet a used Motorcycle helmet from a yard sale . Anything looks better than a bicycle helmet on a Mopeder .For Gods sake don't ride a ped with out some kind of head and eye safety gear , Your dads old captured German Helmet with SS on the side is better than nothing at all ,just paint it with white latex house paint and a red cross ,you will be OK . Save your gas money for food you will need it .stay away from canned Dog and Cat food or any food from CHINA ,it ill Kill you .UNknown Fish food is the way to go, more over a 100 to 200 cc motorcycle might be safer to drive(stay with the traffic) .A 250 Kaw Ninja is rated at 70 mpg but if it just falls over on the kick stand it will brake all the cheap plastic .$400 bucks worth or more (get a used one that all ready broken and put duck tape on the cracked plastic you will feel better when it falls over).On the other hand a bud that I know bought a made in China by slave labor cheap built Scooter that almost gets good milage but after all the repairs at high bucks he could have had a nice USED full blowen BMW R1000 bike with a good brake system that also gets good or better mpg. So look out for Asia stuff that has no dealer support.By the way Schwinn is now into electric bikes and mopeds ,I think its all out of Asia but at least you will have some dealer support .UP DATE I did sell the Sachs and replaced it with a Kawasaki KLR650 its still new but I think it will get 45 to 50 mpg (up date 53 mpg now)on ripoff priced gas and it can go places with no roads so I can take short cuts that the Sachs could not do . Like this Vote yes or if its at least some what funny. And if you are on foot consider carrying a gun .Times are tough . *NOTE *Do not put extra oil additives in any motercycle with a oil wet clutch ."That means no STP ,Max Life , CR2 ,etc nothing with Teflon ,or any other extra anti friction junk .It will damage a oil bath clutch !"

 OR ! If you have the Time Read on ,  Shake your fist at the Oil dealers and car makers , During World War 2 the Germans had fuel manufacturing problems ( mostly from US B17 over refinerys) . To counter that problem the Germans came up with a way to run the Tanks on a few different things ,One Coal dust . Two smoke from burning coal ,Then they made a diesel type fuel from Coal (coal oil )and that did not work to bad .The Germans had one of the battle fields biggest Fuel Hogs ,A Tiger II tank ,tipping the scales at a wapping 76 plus tons and a super heavy Mouse tank at almost 200 tons , Things like this will burn the fuel fast so the inventor of the VW Bug came up with a way to run a few super tanks on cheap to make fuel and get good mpg at the same time , A highbred Tank in 1942 or Tiger E and P at 60 tons, it was electric motor drive that had a power plant that ran on Coal oil Diesel ,a V12 air cooled VW like engine hooked up to a generator .Wow are we seeing the reinvention of the wheel now or what ,but done all wrong now ! .If you really want to get good MPG with a car or truck ,you must use a Diesel not a fuel hog gas engine .Diesels can run on a lot of other types of oils also . This is a fact , If the Rail systems in this country ran their engines on Gasoline they would have went broke years ago . A Railroad Engine is Diesel-Electric and has been since the end of World War II  and they last and last almost forever. Oh they tried Gas powered Engines and Gas turbines and the fools that did that went bust fast ,even with gas at 20 cents a gal. Rail road engines have 6000 gal fuel tanks and on two sides ,try filling that up some time on $4 a gal when the rail systems went Diesal it cost less than gas and gas was 15 cents a gal after WW2. Years ago Rail Engines ran on Coal and in England today some still do , Steam power is just fine , the problem in the USA was the Railroad big shots just could not stand to see a few extra people take home a nice pay check with a retirement , Steam engines took 2or 3 people that were skilled to run the thing ,and a Diesel could be handled by just 1 unskilled kid that most likely could not drive a car and would work for a lot less and retirement to a 20year old who cares .And thats why we no longer have steam power ,not because its not a good power source .And running on Diesels and Gas the railroads almost (did) all went bust go figger! .Also Electric Cars are not a bad Idea but Gasoline powered Electric Cars are(a bad idea) . Diesels are  better for running a electric motor in a car , Recharge from a outlet at home better yet , Solar power a good idea for a little extra power , Fuel cells could be but  Big Oil Owns the rights to that system now .You will never see fuel cells cheaper then Gas & oil You will never see fuel cell cars with out a complete revolution to a new government  .Atomic powered cars would be great(and could be done ,atomic power on a small scale is used at a very low rate and what is needed is such a small amount it could be very safe but the big shots love to have a useage meter on everything so they can cheat you to death daily) but at the rate that we get ripped off for Cheap junk Cars now ,Just ONE atomic car would cost more than a entire Navy Atomic sub or Aircraft Carrier and last for maybe a week before the 2 or 3 un-nessary extra computers locked up and Bang THE END  Vote on this or send me a donation for a campaign for better fuel thanks.And if you know any thing of the Carter engine (from Toronto Canada )I would like to see it .By the way in Japan they are building Mag lev Trains that run on electric and are as fast as a short hop jets (not spending their money on a million dollar a second War ,thats what it cost us to be in that hell hole). Jet fuel cost $14 a gal now .Its just high grade Diesal fuel . For some outragous reason Diesal cost more than Gasoline and its EZer to make . Natural gas just comes out of a pipe in the ground no pumping it out and,no refinery required and Natural home heating gas is just as big of a rip off as Gasoline ,fuel oil and Electric power made from Tax payer built Atomic plants and coal burners are the same rip off. And We the people built the Alasken pipe line with taxes and all that oil goes to Japan . Irac is selling our Army fuel for big oils war for $4 a gal but gas stations in Irac charge their people $1.65 for Gas whats wrong with this picture a 6 year old could see it !
