Happy Tonics teaches about the importance of organic gardening for the monarch butterfly and the butterflies dependance upon milkweed, its host plant. Genetic engineered (GE) Bt corn pollen killed the monarch butterfly when it landed on milkweed from the cornfield. We teach about the risks of genetic engineering to the food supply as well as the plight of the monarch butterfly.
Our eBay store sells common milkweed that is distributed all over the country to establish a floral corridor for the monarch butterfly. In 2006, we distributed seed to 13 states, in 2007 to 25 states and are currently up to 12 states in less than four months. We also sell books about organic gardening, herb books to teach people about the connection of humans to the natural world and natural plant herbology.
Happy Tonics implemented a Monarch Butterfly Habitat on city land in Shell Lake, WI. We host a weekly summer Morph Your Mind! Environmental Education Program. Happy Tonics invites keynote environmental speakers from around the country to teach the public about the importance of staying connected to Mother Earth. Our lecturers teach about the life cycle of the monarch butterfly, the monarchs migration through three countries (Canada, USA, and Mexico). We teach butterfly and native plant identification classes, organic gardening and Community Sustainable Agricuture. Environmental and butterfly films are shown at dusk each Wednesday evening throughout the summer.
We hope you will visit our Web site www.happytonics.org and visit our eBay store. The Ojibwe indian children at Reserve, St. Francis Mission, are making us handbeaded butterfly pins that are for sale in Happy Tonics online eBay store. We believe in local organic farming and Fair Trade. We want to support our Indigenous friends who have so much to teach us. If you want to learn more about the monarch butterfly and ways you can help, read our newsletter "Butterflies and Gardens" on Happy Tonics Web site.
