A Guide to Customizing Your Moleskine Planner
If you've ever owned a Moleskine journal, you understand why these little black notebooks are legendary. Preferred by European artists and thinkers for the past two centuries, these little gems are the perfect, pocket-sized, travel companions designed to capture your many adventures and to memorialize the significant events and ideas in your life.
The simple, yet classic design of Moleskine notebooks and planners appeals to artists, writers and other creative professionals alike. It's minimal and sophisticated design enables you to easily modify or customize it to best fit your needs, whether creative or organizational.
This modification was the result of working with one of my customers who wanted to use a Moleskine Daily Planner for his planning, but he needed his day divided into 15 minute time segments instead of the 30 minute intervals included in the planner. By using this method, he was able to customize his planner to fit his unique needs. This is just one of many ways you can modify your Moleskine so it works best for you. Double the Time Lines in Your Moleskine Daily Planner
Moleskine's Daily Planners are the perfect example of time-planning versatility. The subtle color of type and lines are neutral and non-distracting, giving you the perfect backdrop for customization. The pages of this planner are lined with 2 lines per hour or half-hour segments. By simply dividing your page in half with a vertical line, you can easily double your time slots to create 15 minute segments or other time intervals of your preference.
While a Large Daily Planner was used in the photos, you can also modify the Small Daily Planner to create two time slots per hour instead of just one.
Here's how:
-
Materials:
Moleskine Daily Planner or other daily planner
Pencil or Pen
Ruler or straight edge -
Open your planner flat.
-
Place the edge of a ruler or other straight, firm object vertically in the center of the page. Draw a line on the paper, using the ruler as a guide, connecting the top and bottom lines on the page.
-
Write your new time periods in the new sections created by the vertical line (see photos for details).
-
You're finished! Fill in the time slots as you see fit!
