The answer is no! Leave this to a professional. Improper cleaning of a coin could cause unwanted damage that would likely end up decreasing the value your coin(s) for a couple of reasons.
1. Toning - What some might see as tarished coin, others see as a beautiful and highly collectible coloring that in some cases can even make the coin more valuable. There are plenty of collectors who only collect coins with toning.
2. Abrasives - Again, you could cause or create more damage to the coin(s) when in actuality the potential buyer may want it only in original condition.
We suggest leaving your coins in the condition that they are in. You may think that cleaning a coin makes it look nicer but in most cases, this simply not true.
Improper cleaning should not be confused with professional conservation which in some cases may be appropriate.
We hope you have found this information helpful. Happy collecting!
