Hi Gang! Lol. Well, I thought I would write in and let you guys know what I've discovered over the past few years... Some of this you will aldready know, so for those of you who do,skip over it!  I've been building, flying.crashing andbuying R/C planes and engines for years and it has come to my attention that certain rules do apply.

It seems some of the engines on Ebay look really great but there are some hidden problems you will want to know about.

1. Complete lack of compression. On older engines, they look great, all the pieces are there, but no compression due to ring or cylinder wear. There is virtually no cure for this. The engine company has since gone out of business and no one is making new rings or cylinders for your engine. Thus, you got taken. The engine will not start, even with a new glow head.

2. Seller says it has good compression, but there is no glow head. How does he know? There is no glow head ,so,how can he tell if the engine had good compression? Could be the reason he has no glow head, is, he took it off so you couldnt tell it has no compression! They do things like this sometimes... Go figure...

3. No needle valve. Seller says something like- Selling as-is. "I dont know anything about these engines",so"what you see,is what you get". What he is telling you is, he lost or he never had the needle valve and he is selling the engine, becuase he cant get a needle valve.

4. No glow head. Why? Is he using it for another engine? He doesnt want you to find out early in the game that it doesnt run? Why wont he let go of the glo head?

Other tidbits of info- I have found that the early sparker ignition engines seem to command a higher price because people collect them, but they really arent worth a dog gone if you want to fly your plane with it. The early Mc Coys,Veecos, Foxes, Torpedoes,Stallions, and Enyas you must watch out for, lack of compression. Nice old, vintage, American made engines. (Except Enya, which is Jap.)

Believe it or not, and I hate to say this, I really do, the O.S.Max and newer japanese engines seem to start right up and run like the devil. They seem to sell on here for the least amount of money too. Also Enyas. Another cheap Jap engine.

It really leaves me scratchin' my head. The expensive engines wont run and are only for collecting, and the cheap Jap engines arent worth much money, but run and run and run! Go figure.

Really, in there day, they were all real nice engines. But now, any engine with out compression is just a dust collector.

 That's my thought... What's your's?
