Miu Miu- A Guide to Miu Miu & Fashion
Miu Miu is a bridge line of Prada, one of the most famous names in fashion. Miucchia Prada inherited control of Prada in 1978, and brought her sharp intellect and feminist perspective into the fashion world. By 1985 she had made a real mark with her all-black Prada handbags, which were the most highly sought in the world at that time.
In 1989, Prada offered its first prêt-a-porter collection, which was lauded for its uniquely sophisticated and austere character. In 1992, Miucchia Prada started the Miu Miu fashion brand to capture the essence of modern women. While other designers attempt to highlight a woman's sexuality, or her power, or some other single aspect of her being, Miu Miu fashion is meant to capture sensuality and intelligence, traditional femininity and modern womanhood.
Miu Miu is less expensive than Prada, and has a very different character. There is more of a hip, young influence, and Miu Miu often uses all-natural fabrics and earth-tone colors. For example, among their popular shoe styles is the Espadrille, which features a heel made from woven rope. Many of their summer sandals are made with a cork base.
While Miu Miu is less expensive than its parent line, its clothing still appeals to very fashion conscious celebrities like Gwen Stefani. Some Miu Miu dresses, like the ruffled Victorian dress, have a classic style. Others, like their cocktail dresses or leaf-print dresses, feature more modern designs, but none have sacrificed the attention to detail that has made Miu Miu a premier brand name.
