One of the biggest lost opportunities about an eBay store is the store name. I usually see store names like you would traditionally see around town. But remember, of course, that you’re not running a traditional bricks and mortar store - you’re selling online where keywords get you more customers.
So, as I was saying, the typical eBay store name is something like “Linda’s Great Bargains” or “John Smith’s Store”. You know how many shoppers, especially new shoppers, search for “Linda” or the word “John” when shopping. Just about zippo, wouldn’t you agree?
So, when your name your store, think like a customer. Think about what it means to be selling online and how people find you.
If you are Linda and sell some or mostly clearance item Ralph Lauren shirts, how about “Linda’s Ralph Lauren Outlet”. Or if you sell cars and trucks, how about ”John’s Ford and Chevrolet Store”. This way, when shoppers are searching for these items, they will find you first.
Give it a try. Visit http://stores.ebay.com/. Do you see how the default is set to store name? Type in what you are shopping for. Even itty bitty small stores pop up first!
